SunPacific Avocados is a pioneering orchard grower in the Philippines of certified Hass avocado seedlings imported from California
The pilot avocado nursery and the commercial fruit production farm is located in the cool tropical climate of Lipa, Batangas.
All of SunPacific Avocados certified planting materials are directly sourced from an internationally well-recognized Hass variety grower of avocados based in California. Following their partnership growing operations in other countries, they will also serve as partner consultants here in the Philippines for SunPacific Avocados.
SunPacific Avocados secured and obtained all regulatory import and export permit requirements necessary to bring this premium avocado variety to the Philippines. Phytosanitary certificates from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) were obtained as part of the importation protocol. The strict demands on export requirements from the USDA and the complementary import conditions from the Philippines’s Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) were followed and complied.
SunPacific Avocados remains passionately committed in developing this high value agricultural crop venture for the Philippines.
Beside growing and producing the fruit, SunPacific Avocados also aims to introduce to small and medium scale fruit growers in the Philippines the potential and viability of the crop as a commercial venture.
What is the average yield of an avocado tree? The California Avocado Commission says that an average tree in the state typically averages 150 avocados a year, totaling 60 pounds of avocados, although a single tree is capable of producing 500 avocados, weighing 200 pounds, in one year.
Production figures in California average 27 kg (60 lbs) per tree at a 400-tree per hectare (2.4Acre) average. This would be 10,800 kgs/ha (10.8 Tons/ha).
SunPacific Avocados hopes to serve as the growers reliable source of certified Hass avocado seedling materials.
The Hass variety of avocado is the world’s premiere standard in taste, nutrition and economic trade in the international world markets. Creaminess and the high oil content inherent in the Hass avocado makes this flavorful variety the dominant choice of avocado consumers worldwide.
Nutrition wise, SunPacific’s ‘The Hearty’ Hass Avocados are one of the few fruits that provide heart-healthy “good” fats. They contribute to the good fats to one’s diet by providing 5g of mono and 1g polyunsaturated fat. The Hass fruit also contains vitamins A, B, C, E, and K, including the 25 essential nutrients.
On the economic & business side, per capita consumption and use of avocados has tripled since the early 2000s, according to the USDA. Yet nearly all of these avocados, 95 percent in the U.S. and about 80 percent worldwide , are of a single variety, the universal Hass variety.
SunPacific Avocados is excited to introduce this healthy fruit variety soon to the local Filipino palate and to the local farming community by growing them in the Philippines.
Avocados are a commodity in the Western world, a food item that became very popular on the plates and on Instagram during this millennium. Hass is the main export variety and is preferred due to higher fat content than other varieties which gives it a richer taste.
As a potential export crop of the Philippines to nearby Asian countries like Japan, Taiwan , Korea and others, the Hass avocado remains to be a high value crop for Philippine agriculture.
The Hass variety as the premium and dominant standard in consumer taste for avocados, will remain as the standard for this fruit. This fruit has a ready market and at the same time presents itself with brighter opportunities in the export market for progressive fruit growers.
Enjoy your ❤️Hearty Hass 🥑 avocados. Stay healthy and happy!
